How to apply a License Key with no Internet

  • First make sure you actually need a License Key and these instructions. These instructions only apply if neither your FPP instance or your web browser can reach the internet directly.
  • Connect your laptop or other device to the network where the FPP instance is located.
  • Go to the FPP Cape Info screen by clicking the Cape Info menu item under the main Help menu.
  • Click on the EEPROM Signature tab. The EEPROM Signature tab will show you whether the cape EEPROM is signed or not.
  • If the EEPROM has already been signed, details about the License Key(s) applied will be listed including the licensed output count, the key(s) applied, the cape serial number, and the Pi or Beagle serial number.
  • If you still need to apply the license key, click on the Offline Signing tab.
  • Instructions are listed on the offline signing tab, but are listed here for reference as well.
  • Enter the License Key and accompanying Order Number into the fields provided and click the Download Offline Signing Packet button.
  • Your browser will prompt you to save a file. The filename should be similar to cape-signing-HOSTNAME.bin where HOSTNAME is the host name of your FPP instance.
  • Reconnect your laptop to a network which can reach the internet. Leave the FPP web page open on your browser.
  • Click the https://shop.falconplayer.com/offline-signing link here or on the FPP web page and the offline signing web page should open in a new tab in your browser.
  • On the offline signing web page, you will need to re-enter your order number and license key to allow the system to verify that the correct offline signing packet is being uploaded.
  • Click the Choose File button and select the cape-signing-HOSTNAME.bin file you previously downloaded from FPP.
  • Click the SIGN button.
  • The status of the signing process will be shown in the Signing Status area of the web page.
  • When the packet is signed, your web browser will again prompt you to download a file. The filename should be similar to cape-signing-HOSTNAME-signed.bin.
  • Reconnect your laptop to the network where you can access the FPP system and switch back to the Cape Info page and the Offline Signing tab Step 3.
  • Click the Choose File button and select the cape-signing-HOSTNAME-signed.bin file you just downloaded. Make sure you select the file with “-signed” in the name. The version without “-signed” is the original unsigned packet.
  • Click the Upload Signed Packet button and FPP will load the signed packet and automatically refresh the page.
  • Switch to the EEPROM Signature tab to confirm the license has been applied.
  • Reboot your FPP instance and you should be able to use the licensed outputs.
